For example, if you’re looking for a sommelier to serve wine, someone from IT might speak up and say they’ve worked as a trained sommelier in a former career. If that’s the case, you’ll have a great reason to put that outdoor bar to use at your party.
Other people from your IT team might be able to fill in as a DJ or help with decorations. Some might have connections to speakers or interesting people who can provide entertainment. You really never know until you start talking to your team about what you need.
2. Just being invited to a party makes people feel good

If you host corporate team building events that are designed to foster better teamwork and support, don’t forget your IT team. They may work behind the scenes, but they still regularly interact with your supervisors and employees. Don’t let them work in a silo. They need to be fully integrated socially into your team because that’s how they’ll create rapport with other teams, which will only make the overall experience better when they’re needed.
It’s possible your IT team won’t want to participate if there’s a sense of cliques in your company, so keep that in mind. If that’s a problem, you can use team building events to break that up and rework your company culture the way you see fit.
