Consistency is the buzzword in this article. If you remain consistent in every aspect of your SEO, you will be able to outperform your competitors and make a name for yourself as a thought-leader within your industry. Read on and allow us to elaborate further…

1. Never stop working on your SEO

The first tip is to never top. The moment you put a hold on your SEO efforts (for whatever reason), all of your hard work will start going out the window.

SEO is a marathon in that you have to be in it to win it.

That said, don’t make the mistake of assuming that simply working on your SEO is enough; you need to do it properly.

This means always staying ahead of the curve, following Google’s algorithm, trialling new methods, split-testing landing pages, experimenting with various keywords, and so on.

If you commit to progress and never give up, the rest will follow.

2. Be consistent across all platforms

Another important thing is to be consistent across all platforms. This means that all of your NAP citations (Name, Address, Phone number, etc.), should be synced up everywhere – whether it be your website, your GMB profile, Facebook, or a local directory.

If all of your information, branding, and logos are airtight, it will go a long way toward demonstrating your commitment to quality (and transparency).

Google rewards businesses that keep a tidy, consistent, and factual appearance across all platforms.

3. Stay committed to producing high-value – consistently

You also need to stay committed to producing high-value content. Let “quality over quantity” be your mantra.

Google’s most recent algorithm update (the Helpful Content Update), revealed that one of the main ranking factors for Google is now, quite simply, quality.

Their main role is to provide their users with the most valuable information based on the search criteria that they provide.

As such, if you wish to rank well on Google for your focus keywords, you need to create exceptional content that not only meets Google’s impeccably high standards, but exceeds them.

How do you go about creating exceptional content?

  • Write about what you know (and research what you don’t – thoroughly).
  • Know your audience (including where they spend their time online and which type of content best resonates with them).
  • Understand what your audience is most interested in reading about.
  • Cover each subject in as much depth as is necessary.
  • Write using accessible language; total clarity.
  • Cut the fat.
  • Use imagery and infographics to accompany your content.
  • Use bulleted lists (see how nice they are?)
  • Break the text up with smaller paragraphs, line breaks, and headers.
  • Transcribe your content into audio.
  • Create video content where necessary.

And on and on it goes!

In short, creating exceptional content means pulling out all the stops and focusing specifically on adding value to your audience’s lives.

If you commit to that – and indeed do so consistently – you will invariably notice a big difference in your rankings, traffic, and ultimately your conversions.

4. Grow your backlink profile and maintain good ‘link hygiene’

It’s no secret that having lots of links pointing back to your website is typically a positive thing in SEO, however, there is such a thing as link hygiene and this is something that you should be mindful of. In other words:

  • Stay committed to building ‘high-quality’ links from websites with a solid PR (Page Rank).
  • Regularly go through your website’s backlink profile and do away with any low-value links from websites that may otherwise be tarnishing your reputation.
  • Develop a guest-blogging strategy and consistently contribute to other, reputable, industry-relevant, high-PR websites (niche-specific websites should be your focus but don’t be afraid to guest blog for other blog sites that have industry-overlap).

Fortunately, if you are producing exceptional quality content as mentioned earlier in the post, the likelihood of you receiving lots of backlinks from other industry-relevant websites will be much higher.

Why? Because people love referencing awesome content in their own content and crediting the appropriate sources (as should you, BTW, according to Google’s link best practice guidelines).

5. Be present on social media

While social media doesn’t directly impact your SEO, indirectly it certainly can. For example, whenever you create a brand-new high-value blog, you can share it on Facebook for your audience – thus increasing engagement.

These social metrics and signals will invariably help to increase search visibility and organic search rankings – provided the quality is on point and you continue to show up consistently.

Not only that, but whenever a prospective customer or client visits your website and perhaps isn’t quite ready to buy, if you have social icons present, they may head over to your socials for a snoop around.

If they can see that you are consistently active on social media and that your audience frequently engages with you in a positive manner, they’ll be far more likely to convert – which is the ultimate goal, right?

In conclusion, the latest SEO tactics; the ultimate hack; the crème de la crème is being consistent in everything that you do.

  • Never stop optimizing your website.
  • Never stop producing high-value content.
  • Never stop working on your backlink profile.
  • Never stop showing up!
